As I sat in the truck looking out the window and the rolling hills, the reality of the situation quickly set in. XXX “What is it?” I took a deep breath. I couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous about the bear and the task at hand. She then worked up and down on me. For a boy my age, I felt I was exercising great self control. She pushed on until we finished the job and moved the cattle back to pasture. But we all pitched in and did our best, determined to keep the ranch running smoothly. As we finished up, I could see the exhaustion etched on Beth’s face. Beth, on the other hand, seemed to be avoiding me, and I couldn’t help but feel like I had ruined our relationship.
